We often get the question of whether our stickers are actually waterproof or not. We decided to publish this blog to finally put that matter to bed. Our stickers are indeed waterproof and there are few reasons for how and why. As you can see on the main page of our website, you’ll see that we advertise our stickers as being weatherproof and UV resistant. That means that not only are our stickers waterproof, they are also impervious to other weather conditions and resist the effects of UV rays given out by the sun.
Why Are Our Stickers Weatherproof and UV Resistant?
There’s a simple reason for that. A lot of the clients that use our services are in fact people that need the stickers to last a while and work well under tough conditions. Stickers such as those on hard hats, car bumpers, and even machinery have to be durable enough to withstand the pressures exerted on them. That’s why our stickers have to be weatherproof and UV resistant because if they weren’t they would be next to useless to our clients.
A lot of people don’t know this but being resistant to UV rays is actually much more important for stickers than being weatherproof. Sure, rain can mess up stickers really quickly, but UV rays are what mess up stickers in the long run. UV rays work slowly but given Australia’s bright weather they can be a real nuisance for stickers. They are effective at washing out the colors of stickers if they are not properly protected against UV rays. When you use our product you won’t have to worry about that because we take special care when manufacturing our stickers. We know that they need to last a good while before they need replacement which is why they are made to be waterproof, weatherproof, and UV resistant.
How Do We Make Our Stickers Weatherproof and UV Resistant?
There are three things that all printers consider when making a waterproof sticker. The stock, adhesive, and ink. The stock is the material that the sticker is made of, the adhesive is what is used to keep the sticker in place, and the ink is pretty explanatory. All three of these things need to be waterproof for the sticker to be considered waterproof itself.
At E-Stickers we make sure that all three of these things are 100% waterproof and not water-resistant. The difference between them can be understood really easily. Waterproof stickers can work for years while being submerged under water whereas water-resistant stickers can withstand water for a small amount of time but will stop working if they are submerged in it. That gives waterproof stickers a lot more applications and makes them better for an outdoor, vehicle, and foodstuff packaging uses.
Since most of our clients need this feature, we make sure to create all stickers with the waterproof feature so that none of our customers have any complaints.
